The Well Fount

            The Soroteth first brought to light the idea of the fount, they firmly believed that this object lay at the end of their journey, the spiritual connections made to the fount have somewhat clouded the real facts about this object, fortunately corroborating evidence was found elsewhere now that we knew specifically what we were looking for. One of the most amazing conclusions that nearly every elder race discovered had some knowledge of the fount, and it would not be unreasonable to assume that the fount has existed almost as long as civilization in this galaxy. The precise facts revealed from research are listed below.

• Knowledge of the well fount is essentially ubiquitous amongst the developed and elder races, in local space the Pholi, the Derusai, and the Soroteth all have clear information on the subject. From just this firm evidence of these three races we know that the fount must have been in existence for many millions of years, and that its current existence is certainly probable from the fact that the Soroteth only a few thousand years ago began their journey to it. Aside from the local races there are links with the fount to the High Council, which even if we accept a cyclical existence for this group of advanced races rising and falling over millions of years would further extend the age of the fount to many millions of years.

• The Federation’s most complete information has surprisingly came indirectly from the Pholi themselves, though it is thought that Pholi purposely made this knowledge accessible rather than by accident. The information of the well fount was uncovered in the navigational computer architecture of the Pholi bequeathed Elysium vessels. The maps and information stored within these computers have provided the Federation the most accurate navigational view of the universe; nearly every star in our galaxy has its place on the map with proper movements and vectors given. The maps also provide a wealth of information beyond this though much of the information has been withheld, it is almost certain that the Pholi not only have complete maps of the stars in this galaxy, but also have accounted every planet, asteroid and artifact. Evidence of the well fount was indirectly hidden in these maps (as you had to request information on a specific volume of the map before being given the information, its discovery was in fact accidental as it did not appear directly on the map displays) and was still coded in Pholi computer architecture, decryption of the information was probably intentionally laborious as not only was Pholi computer coding relatively unknown, but this coding turned out to be a cartographical specialized form of coding which was even less well characterized. After deciphering the code the Pholi information was quite comprehensive in many respects.

The fount is located exactly above the rotational axis of the central super-massive black hole of this galaxy, and is effectively along the central spin axis of the whole galaxy.

The fount is located approximately 5 light years above the super massive black hole’s centre, it appears to be insulated from the effects of the nearby super massive black hole by an unknown effect, if Pholi astrometry is believed to be correct then its relative movement keeps it exactly in place above the black hole.

It is unclear whether the fount was built in this relatively quiet time of low emission from the central black hole, it is more likely that the fount has some shielding effect from any emission jet, or that it is composed of immune materials.

The fount has an effect field which itself extends many thousands of kilometres from its centre, it does provide some real illumination but it has remained too faint to be detected directly by Federation telescopes.

The Pholi data suggests that the fount itself has negligible mass though the curvature it generates is far larger than it should possibly be for such an object.

• The well fount is though to be a spatial construct, a specific twisting and molding of space-time, whose overall effect is self-sustaining. The greatest revelation came from High Council data archives, though our access to these is still greatly limited, it provided a mind-blowing account on how the fount works. Its situation above the central super massive black hole is more than coincidental or symbolic, it in fact utilizes the spatial curvature not only of the immensely powerful black hole, but also the more subtle curvature of the whole of the galaxy that spirals around it. Its own geometry somehow contacts and is supported by the whole curvature of the galaxy, it is this curvature that supports and sustains the well fount. However the shear power from the focused gravitational effects of the whole galaxy are not the absolute power of this artifact instead it provides the shielding and control to stabilize a raw singularity the energy of which approaches or exceeds the entire energy/matter inventory of the whole universe.

• In effect the fount mirrors and expands upon existing Federation infinite matter devices, which derive their power from tapping collapsed singularities, the precursors to the singularities that generated this universe’s Big Bang and hence everything within this universe. Federation technology is only just beginning to tap this ultimate source of power in the most minute ways, tunneling out effectively infinitesimal amounts of the total energy from these hyper-spatial singularities. The fount on the other hand has extracted one of the singularities whole from hyperspace and can tap energy uninhibited and to an unlimited degree.

• It is thought that the fount alone contains enough energy by itself to generate a whole new universe, but the focused curvature of the galaxy maintains the collapsed singularity. It is probably also for this reason that the Magellanic Clouds do not have their own equivalents as they simply lack the mass to extract and contain this amount of energy.

• It is uncertain what the function of the fount is, the High Council records also clarify that the fount itself is either home to or guarded by an entity through which the power of the fount is controlled. The identity of this of this entity is unclear even to the high council, it is thought either to be an emergent property of the infinite processing capacity of the singularity, the will of the builder race(s) of the fount, or perhaps a artificial or natural transcended entity which is either at the heart of or intimately associated with the singularity.

It is known that the High Council requested the fount’s power to set up a series of wormhole and hyperspace networks throughout this galaxy and also other local galaxies. The fount’s power was the crowning glory of this galaxy in the peaceful times of the High Council granting them the power to unite the galaxy in peace. It is unclear whether the Councils collapse in the war effected the fount in anyway, though we do know that the fount helped to re-establish the council after the war and again it’s powers were used to resurrect the broken gates and networks, as well as molding together the broken planets and undoing most of the damage.

The fount is also thought to be the hand at work behind the censoring process, or is at least the power through which the effect is made, its all-reaching power is more than sufficient for moving objects about local space.

The fount is accredited its own ability to decide how it’s powers should be used, and has never apparently acted anything other than benevolently, it’s ultimate motives are still unclear, the High Council, and the Pholi believe it to be the protector of life in this galaxy.

It is uncertain whether there are more fount like objects in existence, there are certainly plenty of galaxies to house them, and there construction are probably the pinnacle of any race’s development. Others believe that the fount is an effectively a natural object, that the existence of these objects is the ultimate realization of the universe’s laws and constants and the ultimate extension of life itself.

• The Federation technically has ships fast enough to reach the well fount’s position within a few years, however the unknown content of the intervening space has so far prevented any definite missions. A mission to the well fount will be the culmination of an exploration right to the centre of our galaxy, which hopefully will not be impeded by hostile forces in intervening sections of space. In the intermediate future Pholi/Federation hyperspace technology, One-gate systems, and jump drives may offer alternatives to a long journey through the space between here and the fount. We are finally reminded that the Soroteth viewed the journey to the fount as their own spiritual journey and development, perhaps there is more to this than there seems, it is known that the entity of the well fount will only offer it’s power to those it can trust, perhaps the Federation needs time to develop before it to can travel to commune with the fount.
