Site News
This area of the website details additions and changes made to site pages and sections, most of it quite irrelevant to visitors, as I browse through it, though I imagine that it may form an interesting/amusing diary behind web construction.
[NB: I have pretty much given up on regular updates, because frankly this page would be colossal if I listed every addition, but every now and then I will report on how I feel its coming on]
Most recent news at top.
New articles released to literature in a special 'exposition 03', additionally some brief descriptions of the some of the planets have been unearthed (see patinar, Kia etc..)
03/06/06 ___
Exciting News, although this page has been silent whilst new additions have been made, I am glad to announce a new period of fervent additions, so much so that this page my once more be added to. In particular I have uncovered an archive of ~50 pages of writing. Additionally I have a few drawing projects which have been fermenting away for a while. Additionally though it brings me pain to say it, this site may move to paid hosting, the 20Mb limit is finally getting too constrictive. 31/05/16 ___
Well it has just passed the first of October, and I must admit it has been a while since I have added an entry, this is partly because I have not had an internet connection to make a new update, partly because of the apathy in writing this section of the site. As I write this I am aware that this site has been up for just a little over a year, in that time it has grown from a handful of pages to close to six hundred, in terms of content on them the amount of text exceeds a thousands pages easily, and of course has numerous illustrations and drawings. Although the site is still hopelessly far behind in some sections, I can still take pride with the modest achievements already made. So on this first anniversary I would like to think that this marks for an encouraging start to this site, whose continued development I hope brings joy to someone other than the designer.
Best Regards:
K
Additional information:
Since the last update there has been a modest increase in material basically more maps, and images, there are if you look some more articles, though nothing ground braking, or marking the start of a new section. There are some more narratives available, though I may consider drawing a line between my more recent work and the really old stuff, which is frankly abysmal.
Finally I promise one day I will proof read some of this site. Sometimes the grammatical errors are ludicrous.

___ Maps for Idas, Kolisiman, and Liara up, 22/05/05 ___
Sorry I have just given up on this news business, well the whole giving you a summation, I will from now on give a sort of addition list here instead.
21/05/05 ___ A month in review January 2005 Well an interesting month for me certainly, I eventually found out how my January exams went, and I did rather well, though site progress did suffer from me actually doing some real hardcore revision for once. Not too many additions this month you’ll note, well the most work added has certainly been in the later part of this month, no particular category in mind when I did the work. I am however interested in developing my drawing skills, and hopefully within a few months will be able to put up the least worst of my new sketches. I am hoping that if I do get good at sketching that this will be another important foundation for this website, anyhow I’m not promising anything. On other matters, the slightly suspicious Lycos statistics have told me that I am receiving even more visitors each day, I would just like to thank you all for visiting this rather eccentric corner of the web, and that I hope that the progress of this site continues to please who watch it. 05/02/05
___ Have been very excited by the images coming back from Titan from Huygens, in fact excited is rather an understatement, I was almost sent delirious when I saw the three first posted images, rocks, rivers, and sea and plateau, it was truly astounding. For those sad people among us who are at this moment nodding their heads emphatically with what I have been saying, I have included a small still of Saturn as captured through my home telescope (though the credit goes to my dad for taking the still while I am at Uni, and again for building the massive instrument). 14/01/05 --- 15/01/05 ___ A month in review December 2004 Well in the true style of record keeping this was actually written in January, so what can I say about my additions during the month of December, well arguably not much, I did not fulfill my promise of finishing all those systems, but I think I have relegated this to a time where I can spend ages re-engineering my formula. On the plus side I have made, I feel at least, several more important contributions, one, there are a few more articles, two, I have done a few more pictures and improved some of my basic site design elements. Also after a bit o’ hunting I found a few more sites to put into the links page. Hmm what else, well the coming month I will be heavily in exam season (I was once impressed by the depth and detail of the notes I took this semester, it has dawned on me now that I will have to learn these few hundred pages very thoroughly for only two weeks time), so progress will be slow until my last exams are over, my upcoming priorities are to further improve the basic design layout (basically changing all fonts to the selection of default windows 98 fonts, as I forget that I have used many fonts which most people won’t have), and to try and get somewhere with culture and history sections. 05/01/05 ___ A month in review,
November 2004
Well I came to the conclusion that writing something here after every
update was a ridiculous consumption of my time, so I am now going to do this
‘month in review’ thing instead (until this becomes too much effort). This
month has seen the addition of a few new articles (not as many as I would like
however), regrettably mostly in technology, but some are now filling the barren
lands of history and culture, also a few new pictures have ventured there way
into my gallery. My wonderful colossus at designing planetary system is been put
on indefinite hold, though it can satisfactorily create accurate looking star
systems, and at a stretch, good jovian satellite sequences, they do not look as
well crafted as I had hoped, these may well suffice after a bit of remodeling,
but I feel an overhaul of the process coming on. I think I would like to get
some templates down for all of the systems, and then continuously refine them.
In addition I would like to get around to writing an article for each of the
inhabited worlds, or worlds of particular significance. These objectives I think
will be in my mind for next month’s work. This month has also seen a
refinement in some more general features of the site, the sitemap has been
reworked, and some of the linking within the site refined, also some minor
changes to core coding have been made to make the whole thing slightly less over
convoluted. ___
Strangely enough writing this section is now one of the most tedious parts of this site, for me at least, I have been adding stuff in little bits and pieces, but so diffuse that I didn't think to merit it in the news section. So what have I added since the last update, a few more pictures, a few more essays, concentrating to fill in the voids in history first, and hopefully being able to add some things to culture sections, automatic system generator is being a pain, this I feel I will have to leave until I can spend a few uninterrupted hours fixing the mathematics. If you have visited the site before you will now note the more condensed home page, which I think is a little improvement. I am having some concept ideas about introducing some work on the biomolecular basis of federation life forms, (a spin off from the fact I am studying biochemistry amongst other things). Apart from that I still hope that this site has been pleasing some visitors, internal reporting suggests this is so anyway, though I think everyone has been too polite as to hold back their opinions from my guest book.
17/11/04 ___
Very little work has been added I am afraid, I have been busy with some less fun, though greatly more assessed work on yeast, mmm fun. I have made a few little modifications, and added one or two articles, but next week I have a little break from full work, and I intend for some of its fruits to be shown here. Planet system generator thing is working well know, but my titius bode law like moon generator is still causing me a headache, if it looks to cause me an insurmountable problem new solar system will be published planets first, moons later.
27/10/04 ___ Some
more work has been added, though I am finding it a challenge to produce work and
do University course, and I am afraid that I am paying for Uni and not for this,
so this has received a lower priority when my work is as interesting as doing
this. A couple of new things, some more biology, and also some work is being
done on ship information, I am still behind on filling out my system but getting
a nice distribution of planets and satellites is proving challenging. I have
also included a little more information about myself in the explanation section,
my next effort is to try to get some more history down (and also star systems). 18/10/04 ___
I promise you I have been adding things, for example 'Other' in images now actually has some stuff on, and I am slowly filling blanks on the culture bits, though still behind in history. My planet system engine thing I have been working on is struggling with moon and planets at the same time, though I am trying to plumb in Dermot and Titius-Bode law like things to generate good looking orbital diameters. Once these small amendments have been made, the systems section will vastly fill up, assuming names can be produced quickly also. One final boast, this site can now be reached by Google by keying in alternate athenaeum, and will appear at top of list, other combinations also work, but this is fastest. I am quite proud, and very thankful to Google. still I am hoping for more visitors, Lycos expects a certain number every month or they shutdown the site, though this is not a forced obligation for people to visit, more a worried look at the calendar, and forcing myself to press refresh a lot to get the numbers.
07/10/04 ___
Some more work added, Trenoc History mostly. my thanks to the visitors who chose to visit this site, my internal ratings have very recently greatly improved, and without your enthusiasm I very much doubt whether I would set about site construction with such fervour. thank you.
23/09/04 ___
I promise I have still been working, though I have forgot to include the news reports, mostly because only individual articles have been uploaded, still by this date there are a few new biology articles and new shiptech stuff, I hope to finish the star systems within a week or so, as I have nearly finished making a powerful tool in creating them.
22/09/04 ___
Added operational hotspots to site map picture, so it now has a purpose, added a swish marquee on index page to go to this page rather than put that big progress report sign on it.
06/09/04 (later the same day as report below) ___
Creating a world building guide in the explanation section, at the moment it outlines the mathematical methods of generating the solar system data I create, well worth looking at if you want to make your own systems, but do not know the mathematics. Also added a few new worlds, and systems, as well as one or two technology articles, the gap in update is because I have been on holiday for a week, which I have come back from with new ideas, not to mention rock samples and marginal tan on my limbs. Still awaiting Google submission, so I presume I have very little in the way of an audience, my hosting does not allow me to see the number of hits, unless a submit to a directory, and considering the fact that this site is still far from completion I rather not, because of the rather negative resulting evaluation. Please do not worry about mailing me, it will only serve to indicate people are viewing the site, before I can be bothered to install a hit counter, (bother is not the right word, the greater problem is creating a nice looking hit counter for index page, damn I am pedantic)
06/09/04 ___
To my personal annoyance, the above forum forms do not work at all, as extensions I assumed the server had are not there, will try to create program independent forms shortly, one link has been added to links section, in return from a link from his site, this will probably be the only source of visitors until google adds my home page to its index, hopefully soon.
A little more material has been added to geography section also trying to make pages load faster generally by some conversion from gifs, to jpegs.
28/08/04 ___
Some improvements have been made to overall design for better access etc, also the first components of the 'Forum' section are working, this section currently houses 'Search', 'Feedback' and 'Guestbook' components.
27/08/04 ___
Web has just been published, many sections are incomplete and non-functional, though I should make regular updates, I think the projected finishing time for complete functionality is still early in the year 2005, though I hope to have everything working properly before Oct 2004. For the moment be patient and enjoy what is present, I shall strive to keep adding more material.
Biggest efforts for the moment are to fill out the basic components of this site, and to add more material to history and culture section, which are for the moment almost bare.
