Histories
(Part
of the Aurora Universe)
http://alternate-histories.infinitybridge.com/
Overview
Admittedly
not all like this site, but hearty recommendations for all the work this
person, and good friend of mine, has put much into his site over the years,
(and in my opinion the comparative miracle in getting his site to remain
stably working over such a long period of time)
Extra
notes
More
colourful than my site (see above and elsewhere), and thankfully not at all similar to the contents of
my site. Here you will find fictional works around the aurora universe,
creative writing not one of the features of this site, and the fact that I
have known this person for many years, more than merits the placement at the top of this
list (1 of 1, I'm afraid at the moment Tarot), although this universe is
different to my own in countless ways (as if that's bad), the storytelling is fine work, which
transcends any setting.

Details If
you want an example of some excellent world building, and some really
spectacular images of xenobiology, here is a damn good place to start. My
praise particularly encompasses the evolutionary history outlined for ecology,
I would very much wish to attempt something similar as this reality matures,
but there is no way I will ever achieve anything like those artistic renders.
World
builders http://curriculum.calstatela.edu/courses/builders/
Details Not
an average world building site, but in fact a de facto world building course!
My only complaint is that I found this site after laboriously working
out a lot of stuff for myself. This course does try and set out to enable you
to build your worlds from interstellar up to intelligent life. In addition,
there is a whole wealth of references
The ArcBuilder Universe

Details A
huge site which is in turn part of a much larger project, and every part of
which is extraordinarily detailed, a superb site. My particular interest is in
the ArcBuilder’s Universe section, and of course its well known (or
seemingly so) Planetary Classification List (best work I have seen on this
particular topic, when I unearthed that my own efforts on planetary evolution
began to pale in my mind’s eye). In addition this site addresses areas I am
also trying to document, history, geography, etc. Well worth a visit.
