Hasardi-Amorok Relic Ground

Conclusions of current research

On the far frontiers of the federation lie a number of unusual systems clustered close together. The Pandora system with its giant mysterious mega-engineering, the similarly massive Derusai object, a mega-construct transcendence device, and the ancient civilization that once colonized the Thule system, and its extensive artifacts. Amongst these strange systems is a sort of ship graveyard, the wrecks and hulls of hundreds of thousands of ships and other construction efforts lie within it, it orbits no star, but resides in interstellar space. This mysterious region was first noticed by the federation whilst exploring the near Thule space, since then this area has been the subject of intensive investigation, but surveying it has been far from easy.

The Hasardi-Amorok Relic Ground is thought to be the result of recent censoring activity in local space, perhaps instigated by the Derusai before the High Council could complete their own sweep of the area (or perhaps, and is gaining in popularity in these fields of research, that these wrecks were entrusted to the Derusai by the Council, so that they could be overseen in their absence).

Most of the potential wealth of information that the Hasardi-Amorok ‘graveyard’ has largely gone untapped, the whole region of space has been protected by some unseen mechanism, which results in any craft approaching the derelicts to be unable to maintain propulsion field, and the adrift craft is slowly pushed away from the wrecks. Though this effect can be seen as a hostile action, no ship has been damaged from trying to cross this barrier.

The reason for this activity can be explained if the idea behind censoring activity is investigated. The risk to which ancient and sophisticated artifacts pose to young and immature civilizations is too great to allow them to be readily accessed, the effect observed in Hasardi-Amorok Relic Ground is consistent with a way to limit the possibility of immature races accessing powerful ancient technologies, a danger which if unheeded could create races like the Mawa-rei. Thus the Hasardi-Amorok Relic Ground is a simple local demonstration of limiting access to ancient technology and information.

But like all civilizations the Federation is curious to see what they are being protected from, and have organized many missions to try and break into the graveyard, none of which so far has been greatly successful. It is probable however that when Federation technology becomes sophisticated enough then access to the derelicts will be granted, knowing that what is inside will confer no damaging effects to the civilization.
