The
Corten system is one of the seven Pholi colony worlds within established
federation space. This systems structure is quite typical, with a few
inner rocky planets followed outwards with a precession of gas giants.
One world has apparently indigenous life, and the Pholi occupying that
world are the only oddity, another planet is in the process of being
terraformed. The Corten system is also steeped in history, being the
site of several federation contacts, for this reason Corten is regarded
as the capital system in federation heritage.
Table
below lists main stars, then planets and belts in increasing orbital
radius.

~700 objects 150km+
~60 objects 300km+
9 objects above 600km

most objects share the same rich heavy-element make up, all bodies are,
with no major exceptions, metallaceous.
Summary:
Though this belt is astounding rich in material, the federation has not
set up any ship foundries, or has started any large-scale extraction
operations. This is done out of reverence of the Pholi living in system,
though they have raised no objections. The belt remains in the same
condition as when the Trenoc first discovered it. The only objects
introduced into the belt are the various solar monitoring platforms, and
sensor arrays that are deployed throughout all federation systems.

A typical gas giant with a large family of moons. Most of these
satellites are icy, the larger ones have silicate cores. Tidal effects
have not generated large icy seas under their surfaces but have created
a salty conductive fluid, which generates the faint magnetic fields.

Summary:
Like Musa a large family of icy moons, there are similar tidal effects
but the produced magnetic field on large close moons is essentially
nothing, though the measured subsurface conductivity is similar to some
of Musa’s satellites. The planet also has some minor ring systems,
though none of these are easily visible, they lie outwards in narrow
bands from 531000km to 61000km where the next series of moons begins to
destabilize the ring system.

Summary:
Like the other gas giants in the system Eekwei has a family of moons,
and like Musa it has no ring systems, the two highly inclined moons are
retrograde and thought to have been captured from the systems Oort
cloud, though the densities of these satellites make the unusual.

Surface
g: 0.88m/s/s

Summary:
Laros is the final planet in the series of the Corten system, most of
its bodies seem to have formed out of the captured ice that surrounded
the planet in its creation. Gasatra is an unusual moon, which draws
parallels with Saturn’s Titan, though at a much lower temperature, the
nitrogen seems to cycle between gaseous and liquid states, which is
driven both from insolation from Methis, and also cryo-volcanism of the
moons core which is tidally effected by Laros.
Extra
notes on the Corten system
There
are very few large roaming asteroids out of the system’s main asteroid
belt, there a few icy Trojans to Ekwei, and Laros, and Musa has small
trojan groups, but neither contain objects greater than 50km.
